Thailand is a different kind of trekking country to India and Nepal — there are no high passes or glacial lakes here, but instead cool northern mountains, hill-tribe trails, and some of Southeast Asia’s most dramatic limestone rainforest. The trekking season runs comfortably for most of the year, and routes tend to combine walking with rafting, waterfalls, and overnight stays in local villages, making it an approachable entry point for trekkers who want jungle and mountain scenery without the altitude commitment of the Himalaya.
Tripcamps covers three regions here: the north around Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, where forested peaks, tea plantations, and Karen and Lisu hill-tribe villages define the trekking; central Thailand’s Kanchanaburi and Khao Yai, known for tiered waterfalls and easy access from Bangkok; and the deep south around Khao Sok and Khao Luang, where ancient rainforest and towering limestone karsts make for a wetter, wilder style of trekking. As with every Tripcamps destination, each trek comes with a full itinerary, permit and access notes, and our support in organising guides and logistics.
