Erawan National Park is home to Thailand’s most photographed waterfall, a seven-tiered cascade that climbs nearly two kilometres up a forested limestone hillside, with a turquoise, mineral-rich pool at almost every level. Unlike the multi-day mountain treks further north, this is a single, satisfying day walk — accessible enough for families and casual trekkers, but long and varied enough to feel like a genuine outing rather than a quick photo stop.
The trail follows the stream upward through dense limestone forest, home to resident long-tailed macaques, past pools that range from shallow wading spots near the base to a demanding rock scramble at the seventh and final tier. Swimming is very much part of the experience here — several of the mid-level pools are calm and shallow enough for a proper swim, and Tripcamps builds swim stops into the day rather than rushing straight to the top.
Erawan’s proximity to Bangkok — roughly 3 hours by road, plus a short additional drive from Kanchanaburi — makes it one of the most accessible treks in the Tripcamps Thailand collection, suitable as a standalone day trip or as an easy add-on before or after a Kanchanaburi visit. The falls run year-round, though flow is strongest just after the monsoon in November and December, while the dry season offers the clearest pools for swimming.
